Saffola Primary School is a rural, partially funded government school, educating 230 pupils from grade R to grade 7. The school is situated across the road from the Trollope Mining Services head office.

Trollope Mining Services took a decision to assist the school with the refurbishment of the library.
A container had previously been donated to the school but due to the lack of funds, the container was left unattended and was in serious disrepair.

With assistance from AGA Transport, Trollope Mining Services took steps to ensure that the container was levelled, damaged side boards and skirting was replaced and a new floor was laid. The walls and roof were painted, transforming the container into a beautiful library.

The area around the container was tarred and a pathway was made for pupils to walk to and from the library.
Trollope Mining Services donated shelves for the books and tables for the children to sit at when studying.

In November 2012 a handover of the newly renovated library was done at the school and the joy on the children’s faces was clearly noticeable.

Educational is vital and Trollope Mining Services believes that it should start as early as possible in a child’s life. With the refurbishing of the container into a fully functional library, the company hopes to improve the access that pupils at Saffola Primary School have to reading material and that this will inspire them to complete a happy and successful school career.
