“Take Action; Inspire Change; Make Every Day a Mandela Day".
For this year's Mandela Day project Trollope Mining Services recruited a number of enthusiastic employees to brighten the lives of the pupils of Bhekekaya Intermediate School in Bapsfontein by painting a few of their classrooms.
Bhekekaya Intermediate School is a rural, partially funded government school headed by Mr. Ezekiel Thobela, educating 230 pupils from grade 3 to grade 7. The school is situated across the road from the Trollope Mining Services head office and has a passionate staff compliment who are committed to improving the school and ensuring good quality education for all its pupils.
Armed with brushes, rollers, gloves and loads of energy the team made easy work of painting 3 classrooms in record time, much to the amusement of excited learners peering through the windows. The bright green colour chosen by the school's staff proved to have a truely uplifting effect on what was a dreary and uninspiring learning environment and the children definitely seemed excited about taking their seats in their newly renovated classrooms.
In addition, the Company also did general maintenance on the school buildings such as replacing light bulbs and fixing door handles and locks.
The aim of this project was assist them in providing quality education for all their learners through the development and improvement of the necessary resources and facilites.
