OPENCAST MINING CONTRACTS

RHINO ANDALUSITE MINE

Rhino Andalusite Mine is an open cast andalusite mine in the Thabazimbi area. Andalusite is a critical ingredient in the manufacturing of refractory bricks for furnace ovens.

Trollope Mining Services was appointed in 1999 to carry out the opencast mining operations. The contract consists of: stripping topsoil, removing overburden, drilling and blasting the ore body and loading and hauling ore to the plant.
